The browser workspace requires no Python or Ollama installation. It downloads model files once (approximately 3 GB; actual size is shown during setup) and keeps them in browser storage. The initial beta supports Apple Silicon Macs with Chrome, WebGPU and sufficient memory. Windows and Safari remain unsupported until tested. There is a separate Mac fallback for devices that cannot use the browser version.
Browser audio and text remain in this tab unless you choose to copy or save them. SessionShield does not create a clinical archive. Closing or clearing the tab can lose unsaved work. Clearing does not securely erase saved copies, swap, backups, or your clipboard.
Cloud services can protect data with encryption and policies against model training while still receiving it for processing or storage. SessionShield runs transcription and drafting on your device and keeps no cloud copy of your encounter. Other providers’ training and retention policies vary; “no training” alone does not mean “no upload.”
The browser workspace does not save an encounter history. Closing, refreshing, or clearing it can lose unsaved work. Copy the reviewed note to your clinical record first. This is not certified secure erasure: the clipboard, saved files, browser or operating-system features, and backups can retain copies.
Obtain and document appropriate consent and AI disclosures first. Every output is an AI draft that may contain errors or omissions. Clinicians remain responsible for verification, risk assessment, supervision, and their signed clinical record. Clinical release depends on validation of the supported devices and encounter types.
